2 Types of Barley:
2 Row Barley
two-row Barley has lower protein and higher sugar content. It is mainly used for human consumption, but also used for Animal feed.
Many European countries such as Spain, Italy, and Romania do grow this type and export it for Animal feed. To increase the level of Protein, add a Nitrogen fertilizer during the growing season.

Six-row Barley
Six-row barley has a higher grain protein concentration than two-row barley, which is generally better suited for animal feed.

2-Row barley grains are shorter and plumper, containing a higher starch level. 6-Row barley grains are long and contain a higher protein concentration and less starch by comparison.
