Origin: USA
USES: Forage, Pasture (Hay, Green Chop). Large stems make it harder to dry hay.
Planting: Appropriate after Corn planting. Sorghum Sudan grass is a summer plant from May-August.
Soil pH should be between 6 and 7.5 with 6.5 desirable. Seeding depth for all sorghums is 3⁄4 to 11⁄4
inches in heavy soils and up to 2 inches in sands. Seed at the rate of 5.5-7 KG/Acre. Roots grow as much
as 5 feet underground.
Nutrition: In the early stages Sorghum and Sudan’s grass have more energy and protein than Corn. At
maturity, Sorghum has 20% less energy than corn.
Production: it grows 5-12 feet high. 2000 KG per Acre.
Harvest: 45 days after planting with 2-3 cuts a season.
